Have any of you fellas in the regs done an Open Uni course, or currently are studying one? I'm just curious how you found fitting in the course around the training plan and especially during the current op tempo.

Yes did it twenty odd years ago.
Specialised in History. Nought happening in Norge so I used the spare time to get a degree. The nice thing about was that it was all paid for by pusser.

I went back to the TA so I could do a bit more galavanting around the world, but forgot how much I enjoyed playing soldiers, so I'm going to apply (again) for the regs this year!
Better late than never.

Cobalt, coupla lads I know are both studying under the OU scheme, and I'm considering doing so myself. They do cater for BFPO addresses, so even if on ops looks viable. 6 years for a degree generally is their recommendation, depending on workload...being at Logs I hope to do it a bit quicker
Not particularly cheap tho, depending on what course you want to do - some of the ones I looked at were £1500 for one 60pt module (ie. 1/6 of a degree}. But the majority seem about £600 per module (a module being 1/6th of a degree, 1yr study under OU).
Pusser will give you £300 (IIRC) a year in Learning Credits, ie. you pay for it, show the clerk your receipts and you'll get £300 back. If you've been in over 4yrs, you qualify for Advanced Learning Credits, which means you'll get £1500/yr back. Learning Credits you can use for almost anything semi-educational, you can use them on driving lessons or scuba diving. Advanced Credits are more explicit, but for a degree you're fine/
