Getting Old
I remember back in the 60s an old aunt in her mid 90s who had gone to the states before WWI as a ladies companion, returning to UK to live out her final days on the Isle of Wight, Our home.
I picked her up from Heathrow and took her down to Portsmouth for the ferry crossing to the island. As we were travelling between the airport and Pompy she asked how we were going to cross the Solent, I replied that we would catch the normal ferry to Ryde. At this reply she appeared disappointed so I asked why. She then asked if it would be possible for us to cross the water in a hovercraft, I answered yes and again why... She replied
" In my life I have travelled in every type of transport that man has invented and engineered, I travelled in the first Ford motor car to reach the west of the United States before that there were just wagons... I'd like to travel in a Hovercraft as that, apart from a space rocket, is the only form of transport that I have yet to use!”
This lady had stories that would make you hair curl, she was actually at the Blimp Port, as she called it, when the Hindenburg blew up. She was at Cape Canaveral when the first man went into space… There was a life of one small lady, which was full of historic memories; the sad thing is that she went to her grave with them all.
Aye

Moaning old gits
I've just been reading all of your moans generated mainly from the one about when I was a kid and all of the sh!t that followed it. Why instead of moaning don't you's actually do something creative and worth while and get out and get kids involved in activity's? It's because of people like you lot that there's such a big divide in today's society between the older generations and the young kids. I'm only 21 and i'm leaving the forces after only serving 4yrs, a lot of my reasons for leaving are because of people like yourselves that are frightened of change (or maybe scared of it) and I feel i've got a lot more to offer outside of the forces for this reason. I'm stationed at a joint establishment now and see life from all 3 services, and if the forces are going to attract the people they should be looking to attract they need to change and accept the fact that it's changing otherwise it's going to be left with the rubbish and no-hopers that are starting to take over already.

Geordiebhouy? is that how you miss spell your name.
Elsewhere on these forums, safe from eejits like you, there is a journal written by a simple lad, it`s all about how he involves former Bootnecks, their children and grandchildren in totally outragious events. All are welcome. The main aim is to have a farking good time whilst supporting each other. Mostly Bootnecks, but several Para Reg atttend and even the odd(very odd) L.I. member turns to.
Oooh yawn, is that the time

About as eloquent as an orangutan having a crack-induced seizure! Sure they're not kicking you out becuse they couldn't understand your banter (or did you just bore the proverbial out of them?).Geordiebhouy wrote:I've just been reading all of your moans generated mainly from the one about when I was a kid and all of the sh!t that followed it.
