Re: Medical Deferral Appeal?
When you appeal, it's best to gather as much evidence as you possibly can, a letter from your GP is a fantastic start. You could also ask nicely if you could see a specialist in the field of allergies and maybe ask him politely to also write you a letter giving proof. After you've gathered as much e...

I find that holding your hands on top of your head when you get a stitch can really help, and you don't need to stop running

Good exercise programme
Here's a link to a good 16 week fitness programme that works quite well and covers all the areas you need to work on if you're looking to join the army. It claims to be from the official British Army Fitness guide which will apparantly set you back £10.99! You can see the programme for free though s...

Re: Regiment almost Full
In reply to the original post: It sounds to me like you have a bit of an attitude problem. This post is basically a huge whinge about how difficult you found the selection course. I doubt that, if you had passed, you would have made it very far through your training before binning it completely. The...

Re: 203 form info
Thanks alot mate, that's definitely cleared a few things up for me now. I was starting to think it was unlikely for me to get back in, but now I'm much more optimistic.

Re: A little help....
Hi Purcy, I was a Vehicle Mechanic in the REME before I was medically discharged. Here are a few answers to you questions: 1) The basic training course that you will do (Phase 1) is the same across the board in the army... i.e everyone does it from chefs or drivers to infantry soldiers and paras. Th...

Re: Heights issue
Maybe you should consider going for another job. Most jobs in the Army don't require you to be confident at heights (Besides the Para's obviously :P). This isn't a guarantee that you'll never come across a high section on an assault course if you join the army, but I am comfortable with saying that ...

Re: 203 form info
Hi mate, my name's mike and i was medically discharged in July 2010 for having Osgoodschlatter's disease in my knee. I've since had successful surgery 2 months ago and was hoping to re-apply after the 12 month recovery period (so in Jan 2013). I just wanted to ask a couple of questions really :) How...

SAS - The real story is a great watch, an excellent insight into what these guys do and have acheived. It's inspired me to, one day, try and join their ranks.

Re: army fitness test???
It depends on what job you're applying for. I joined the REME in 2008 and had to do the 1.5 in 12m30secs at selection, but after phase one training i was required to meet the regimental standard of 10min30secs. Regiments vary but most regular army regiments are around the ten and a half minute mark....

Re: Looking at joining the TA
The levels of fitness required by the TA are slightly less than the regs, but you should still take them seriously. You need to get yourself used to doing some running. Do some running throughout the week and then at the end of each week practice running the 1.5 mile test and keep trying to beat you...

Re: Medical Records
Your RG8 will go off (once completed and posted) to the relevant ADSC. There the doctor will go through it and and check that you fit the basic medical standards. Unless your GP has ticked a box on the form confirming that you have a condition/injury that breaches the medical requirements then all s...
