Re: Joining Military With Depression?
As someone serving who has developed anxiety, I would suggest seriously thinking about this decision. Some of the situations you might have to deal with would be really hard on anyone, and any previous injury whether physical or mental can leave you more vulnerable.

Hi hun, don't think there's a lot of mums on here, but take yourself across to British Forces Sweethearts (there's a forum and a FB group) and say Bluebird sent you. X

Re: Dating an RAF Man
Annabella, run a mile.
Nothing to do with him being in the RAF, or the military as a whole, he's just stringing you along and you deserve better. (This from a woman in the Forces) If he was really interested you would absolutely know it.

Re: Questions Regarding IOT
Term 1 you're in a 2 man room, terms 2 and 3 you get one to yourself. On the exercises you may be in tents of 6-8 mixed cadets, or in a building with all the other lads on your course - the girls get a separate building on that ex. There's not a lot in the way of drill and inspections in normal dail...

Think most people just go on Facebook these days, just the way the technology has moved on, a lot of forum type places are struggling more now.

Re: Joining Question
Sorry, bad news for you. Two things: Firstly don't believe everything you read in the papers, chances of us entering into a conventional war with Russia are practically non-existent, and secondly even if we did need more people your chances of getting in with a condition that makes you prone to fain...

I reckon if you can sort the fitness, and the physical and mental resilience then sure, why not?
Would you forever regret not having a go if you just decide you're too old and don't even try...?

Re: Where has every one gone?
I think Ofens has hit the nail on the head. This place was a godsend for me when I was joining up back in 2004, but there just wasn't the information I needed available anywhere else. Now there are so many more options for social media, and the military has got on board with using them as a recruitm...

Re: can you use rn van
On RAF bases we can hire the SIF wagon for about £30 a day, it doesn't belong to MT though, it's subsidised by Service Funds, and usually it's looked after by one of the engineering sqns. The Navy may have something similar but I don't know how you'd find out sorry!

Re: Pilot - security vetting.
Personally, I would explain it just as you have here. I really don't think a quashed conviction would be a barrier to entry, and there is very much a common sense approach these days (As there was when I joined up in 2004) to the fact that most people have the odd thing in their past. If you are rea...

Re: what should I join
Would definitely recommend getting A Levels before joining up, not just for academic qualifications but the 2 years extra life experience and maturity, both physical and emotional. It makes a difference, honestly.

They are changing with the new tax year - there will be no high/low pay bands under NEM, instead trades will fall into one of 4 supplement groups.
