Re: Royal Marines Bands

Why are there never any posts about the RM band service? At the moment I look at this site, plus ABRSM forums, but I've got some more specific questions? Can anyone answer some (pretty basic) questions? Are they primarily soldiers or musicians? Roughly how is the time divided between the two? Do yo...

Re: Women Marines

I've just finished reading an article about a female officer who passed the Commando course, then went on to serve in a unit? Served in a Unit eh? I'd check your info before you start a thread if I were you. She had three attempts at the course. I will not say why she failed the first two as this i...

I provide saftey cover for the PRMC 3 miler most weeks. I do this in a mini bus which of course has a mileometer. I can absolutely confirm that the 3 mile run is 3 miles long, as it is the same route as the RM BFT. Like wise, during RT the 6 miler is 6 miles and the 9 miler is 9 miles. And guess wha...

Spoke to the C.O. this week and he told me it looks like the working title of "Sea Soldiers" has been dropped. "Bootnecks" is going to replace it - although that may change by next year. Rough edits have been seen of early episodes and they "look promising".

The overriding factor in choosing Kings Squad Pass Out music is wheather it will fit in with the existing Parade format. Military music is measured in 16 and 8 bar phrases and so if a troop has a particular request (that is available) the band do try to accomodate, as long as it doesn't have a knock...

All military helicopter pilots of all services learn to fly fixed wing first. Its a basic requirement. Gazelles have now left service (winter 05/06) so its Lynx and Sea King only at the moment. By the time you get there though there will be the Merlin. There are at present 3 RM Harrier pilots. All s...

Come on lads, he asked a sensible question, so give him a sensible answer. And if you don't know what your talking about shut up. If you don't learn that one none of you will pass out of training. Until recently, a recruit straight out of training had to wait 12 months before becoming a candidate fo...

There is a few things that are included now that didn't used to happen.

Advanture training add a couple of days. Think they also get an extra long weekend now too. They used to work weekends which they now don't so it all adds up. Nothing major - gives you two weeks recovery time too!
