As the journey time would have been a couple months I WOULD think that was included. A sailors time was counted from when he stepped aboard his ship.

In the army you do not only have to run but also to it with a huge load on your back, this outs a huge pressure on the knees, so if there is a weakness there this sort of life will bring out the weakness. I feel it is probably better if he looks for another career rather than wind up in a wheel chair.

We used to do the same thing in the Desert to get us fit for the invasion of Suez in temperatures of 45 c, so this sort of thing is not new to the forces. One of the big things here is that you have TA Soldiers trying to pass fitness courses designed for regular soldier. I am not having a go at the ...

When I was called up in the 1950's, what is now classed as bullying was just hard training. Back in those days you were trained to be a soldier in just ten weeks before you were sent of to action some where or other. These days training takes some six months, so it either means todays youths are not...

This sounds like it has been written by some one who has never been in the Forces and it is his idea what it is like and would have been written to to try and shock people rather than tell it the way it is or was.

Many years ago I transferred across to the Parachute Regiment from a County Regiment. These days most people will join the paras and train up to their standards, even then not many make it.
