Re: Kick Start?

Sunny days... Timex, where did you get that 41 'display' from? Was the Sardinia thing when we exercised there ( and Corsica?) in the 70s? I was attached to the Ities. The only advantage being they got a small bottle (150cl?) of brandy in their 24 hr ration packs. The only soldiers I'd have no probl...

Memory's going in parts - we had mismusters for Rum in the guard room (Neaters!!). I can only drink Wood's 100% ever since! 8) It was just before that sad day on 31st July 19...

Re: Osama Bin Laden

The general gist I'm getting is that Al Qaeda's agenda is being undermined by the Arab rebellion for democracy and their ideology is becoming less attractive in the Muslim world. I hope it's true.

I agree with your caution, Wholley. You can kill an individual but you can't kill an idea.

Re: The serious danger that royals pose to republics

Also kingdoms make for poor, weak, unreliable allies to republics. Specifically, the UK being a kingdom, is not as good, strong, reliable an ally for the US republic as British republics (a British republic with republics for the home nations as well - a Scottish republic, an English republic, a We...

On the other hand the only way to find out is to apply and see what happens. You've got nothing to lose.

Re: Research for novel. Bullet wound to stomach.

You could consider the wound being caused by a ricochet which might 'confuse' the hypercritical experts - on the other hand you'd have to explain why the sniper was a lousy shot!??!

30 Commando Information Exploitation Group

I've just come across this new unit on the Web. 'Information Exploitation Group'?? :-? Was the Major General indulging in a quick spliff when he signed the authorisation for this designation? What's wrong with 'Reconnaissance Group'? I suppose the Comms element complicates the issue but if reconnais...

Re: Child Tax Credit and scroungers!!!

I have to agree with your wife. Maybe you don't need it now - but are you really sure when it comes time for your youngster(s) to go to university you'll be able to support them in the way you'd want? £545 a year put into a children's building society account might come in very handy in the future. ...

Hyper,

Good news early in the New Year. Hope the rest goes as well!

P.s. You've fixed up some insurance, right? Floods, like lightning, fires..... can strike twice

Re: Wouldn't it be nice if.............

Hyper,

Sorry to hear your bad news - especially the insurance! Friends had their garage burn down and damage their conservatory last week but luckily their insurance was OK.

Anyway I hope 2011 is better for you!!!
