Well said. As one who has been involved in a few skirmishes here and there I appreciate the comment. As a Royal Marine I felt privilaged to serve with some very fine men indeed, some were killed, others have since crossed the bar, but the spirit they showed in adversity has always been an example to...

Keep your beliefs by all means and I dont question your rights to an opinion. But I do hark back to the Oath, "I swear to defend her majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second her Heirs and Succssessors" etc. I trust you were not thinking of joining a Royal Regiment.

I started this thread with the question has our national gene pool been weakened, somehow or other people have introduced the Royal Family and dope smoking to it. Is this an example of what I was talking about?

Bigbart you are being a NOBBER. If and when you join up you will take an oath of loyalty to the crown. Are you going to be a hypocrite and take it ?Seeing it goes against your beliefs I trust you will not be joining Her Majestys armed forces.

A thought on Nobbers

It has just occured to me that the preponderence of Nobbers might be due to poor birth control amongst the thickos of the UK. So sad to hear about Steve, a good Marine and a good friend. A great singer who could reel off songs like anything. I got crimbo cards from him for years but he never put his return address on them. I'll always remember him with affection.

The Etaples Mutiny was not led by Percy Topliss, the monocled mutineer was basicaly a work of fiction based around the Bull Ring Mutiny. It took place over a few days and calmed down when an infantry Btn from reserve (HAC) and a yeomanry cavalry Regt were called in to put it down. It started because...
