Fellas no one will care about your PJFT as long as you pass it in under 10 mins. Pass it in 9:59, pass it in 6 mins, it's doesn't mean squat after the AFCO has submitted you as an applicant for PRMC. Btw, if you run witha short stride length your time will be exactly the same as with a long stride l...

if you go the opticians used by your AFCO (they pay the fee if you do) you eye test will be quite thorough, including that twat of a machine that blows air into your eyes! As far as I'm aware most highstreet opticians now carry out an in depth eye test for everyone - Vision Express, Optical Express ...

Quite frankly your AFCO's advise is outdated. All of the Armed Forces allow laser eye surgery, though it can restrict what job you do. The surgery must be of a certain type (Lasik or Lasek, can't remember) and your vision before surgery must be of an acceptable standard (corrected) to join the force...

To be honest I've no idea. I've never been good at running on treadmills anyway, but I felt that the Run XT was more realistic as I'm used to running 1.5 miles on the road in and around the 9 min mark. On the more heavy duty treadmill I felt as if the belt had an akward pull on it every cycle which ...

My advice is definately go to an LA Fitness prefereably the one in Oxford if you can. I've never been able to run a really good 1.5 mile time on a treadmill, normally coming in at around 9.45. I'd noticed that at the gym I use they had two different treadmill models from the same brand - Technogym. ...

@Jarhead - Because I am a proud man :o I'm gonna point out that I run 1.5 miles in around 9 minutes and I can do around 16 pullups at a time  Seriously though, if you add the distance of the runs, you will see that total distance is the same for both of us. It's important not to forget that t...

I've done POC and PRMC and passed both, but enough about how great I am :P When I was training for both selections I would train Mon - Fri and have the whole weekend off, and I only ever ran 3 times per week. Occasionally I'd throw in the odd bleep test or sprints and I also played rugby, but the po...

Alternatively if you lie and say that you're coming from abroad, the careers office that you speak to will condense all of your application process into as little a time as possible. I actually did apply from abroad and had my initial interview on the 12th June 07 and by 12th July 07 I had my confir...

'Real orthotics' are custome made by a specialist to an individuals feet, to counter-balance any motion control issues a person has that affect their running. This may be something common like over-pronation or supination or could be much more complex. Sorbothane insoles aren't dedicated orthotics, ...
