Re: Para Wings and Red Berets
JB, are you not confusing the earning of Para wings through P Coy with those of an honorary nature? IIRC Prince Charles did the full 8 jumps, and I did hear that he did P Coy? No MOD secret when you have a full course of Para's and attached ranks on the course. My Great uncle didn't do P Coy or 8 ju...

Re: Are there any roles in Navy which get deployed less?
The RN AE's are probably one of the most deployed of the RN, they are quite often embarked on Major deployments throughout the year and as mentioned earlier almost permanently on Herrick (with various Sqn's on rotation).

Re: Marines for life?
Nothing like aiming high!! Seriously though what job could be better? Exactly, I know once I'm in I'll never want to leave, plus there aren't really any jobs on civvy street that I want to do. We all start with that feeling, some last a long time others do the minimum then leave. I'd suggest gettin...

Re: Marines for life?
ISTR that the maximium age for any Officer to retire is 55 so thats when you'd need to leave. Very few stay that long, and you need to be in a required Role.

As Tab has already said the goalposts keep changing, AFCO will give you the Yes/No about your mate, but with 3 convictions (one of which is Assault) I'd expect that the answer will be No..

Bit late for you but all I can tell you is that they are done at Aborfield, I have no idea about the length of the courses but would guess at about 12 months.

Re: Need advice on undertaking PJFT Please for females???
Nothing ridiculous at all, your brisk walk isn't very brisk. Think of your squadded run (BFT's if you did them), the first part (squadded run) was a brisk walk with some jogging thrown in.

Re: Need advice on undertaking PJFT Please for females???
Hi, I'd suggest you get down to the gym and run the distance you need (2.4km) and see what time you actually do it in. Its only 1.5 mile so even at a brisk walking pace you should crack it in that time. Also run/jog for 10 mins and see where that gets you, if needed you can then go a bit faster. You...

Re: Infantry regiment choices
A standard Army Bde has 4 Battalions as its "Manouvre Units", (its fighting troops). The RM only has 3 Cdo Units so to make it simpler for the Op deployments and Training of the Bde,1 Rifles was attached to bring us into line with the Army's set up. (personally I think that they should hav...

Apache is a good book, you could also try Chickenhawk or Low level hell both books are about Vietnam Helicopter Ops. Or this as an alternative to modern wafare, very good read http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommy-British-Soldier-Western-Front/dp/0007137524/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328664531&...
