Combat Warrior, I am or may soon be in a similar position as yourself. Out of interest how far did you get with the RMR? I started phase 1 in March 08, 108 troop but failed my confirmation weekend. I take it your Det was Dorset House? PM me as I live in Cheltenham and may be considering other option...

Long and short of it is stick at college or uni if you want to be an officer. The guidelines are very stiff and unfortunately mean common sense by the sounds of isn't exercised. No disrespect is intended by any of my comments for those who are officers i just disagree with the vetting procedures. M...

Haribo, Yes, your wage is only bumped up to your salary if you are called up for any period of time that takes you away from your civvy job. This does not include annual camps or courses that reservists will take, they will be paid at the same rate as your rank and the time off from your job will be...

It is indeed. I',m in 'think' mode at the moment, and very unsure of what to do about it all. As it stands, I cant see things working out for me in the RMR as after being made redundant my new job simply does not work with it. So i'm on the brink of joining full time as I really dont like my civvy j...

From what I have heard at my unit, your pay is increased to whatever your 'standard' wage is in your civvy job. I say 'standard' and by that I mean your salary BEFORE any bonus you may usually earn, as these will NOT be paid. This is particulary important to those who are self employed and own their...

Hi mate, I am not sure of the answer for you on this one, however I was in a similar'ish' postition with my qualiifcations. From my experience they are quite rigid with their requirements and don't do much to shift from them. I have 9 GCSE's, 7 at C and above, 3 A-levels and a History Degree (2:1) b...

Just out of pure interest, as I know you'll know the answer, why such a definate no Sandy? The forces are massive on so many sports, why is not on MMA? Whilst not being an expert or even a novice, from the limited unarmed combat I have done with the RMR I got the impression that it was a combination...

Well thanfully the President made the right the choice in this instance, quite what destroying Afghanistan would have achieved I dont know. Apart from appeasing the overtly aggressive 'revengers', bombing the place beyond relevant need to take out Al-Queda camps would have been a disaster for many r...

Wholley, How are relations (on the whole) between the Muslim communities and the average Americans over where you are? I read recently that America was beggining to see for the first time some problems arrising with 'home grown' terrorists, whom of course may not be muslim, however it was clear that...

Thanks for that MSI64, obviously i'm only thinking short term at the moment (i'e applying for Int Corps, passing their selection and getting into basic), but being RMR at the moment if I were to go down that route I would feel I have some unfinished buisness, so to speak, as its not looking likely t...

Fair one druadan, I knew it was a long shot as to be honest I doubt its something many people really get involved with so most wouldn't really know. I assume in terms of 'humint' the Int Corps ranks do get out on the ground(and therefore amongst it due to the nature of things out there), so I just w...

Druadan,

Any idea (however slight) how many Int Corps guys (or girls) are actually 'attached' to the Corps out on ops? by that I mean OPMI's that dont deploy with the Int Corps but within the actual commando units and so forth. I assume they will have done AACC?

Any thoughts?

Dwarfy,

There is fairly large point being missed here. You cannot forget that their are a large number of Muslims who have joined in the 'wars' in many countries, for British muslims particulary in Bosnia, due to the belief that they beloing to the 'Ummah' first and foremost, their race, ethnicity and natio...

Run times are irrelevant in many ways guys, if your sent down to CTC for your PRMC then its because you have the fitness to pass. The rest is going to be down to how much you want to pass the course. Simple facts are that people with 'worse' run times may pass the course through determination and ot...
