Re: Which boots are the best?

you use what you are issued with but clever joe plays the system by going to physio and blagging a chit for free altberg sneekers (worth about £120) cos his leg hurts!!!
That's my advice anyway, issue boots are prob about the worst boots on the market, for tabbing i'd even use jungle boots instead.

Unforunately your son has picked the wrong time to get in trouble, the heirarchy have decided since recruiting has gone up it would obviously be a brilliant idea to chuck people out for the slightest infraction, new policy is 100 hours community service=discharge, interesting when there are ncos who...

Bring the boots, ask if you can use them and they'll probably be fine with it,worst they could do is thrash you and thats gonna happen anyway. Of course if you want a pair of decent boots just tab with no socks, you'll get bad blisters and can actually get a chit for altbergs. Some of the "blis...

Just been paintballing today, and there were some Airsoft lads there. Couldn't beleive it when I saw a bloke in full desert combats (it was a woodland area!! :-? ), desert boots, Para Reg stable belt, Maroon DZ flash and wings! I turned to my mates and said there is no way on this planet that this ...

It's pretty hilly but it's nothing compared to the brecon beacons etc. However obviously you will be covering the ground quicker in Catterick.

You do not need 3 years to go to SFSG. They do allot of normal infantry work(but they get c8 s!!) but are also into all the fastroping and black kit counter terror stuff.
Remember though ct sounds ally but is maybe not so ally with the 3 hour standby.

Used to have to pay £35 for those, the hi-tecs used to only last a month or two.

The food at itc catterick is garbage with no nutritional value and it doesn't even taste good, this particularly applies to breakfast which during p-coy etc it was often an effort to get down you. You will lose weight, don't worry about that!! Even if you have chips at least once a day, a fry up eac...

If you go to 2 para you could wait a long time, because of the afghan tour they have a backlog going back to November 2007. 3 para put jumps as the priority over their tour so they do not have a backlog apart from us new lot, however we may have to wait a while because of weather +plane availability...

All new platoons will supposedly send the people who pass out with them to the same battalion. This is a new system and I am not sure why it was started. In our platoon everyone got what they requested but this is rare.

Some guy on the cover of soldier magazine a few months back had a left handed SA-80 so they do exist but probably only for colonels etc.

Didn't say it was a good thing but 2 days is a short time to injure people or get them to put in their letter assuming the normal methods of beasting are used.

No set number, if your pressups are not up to scratch you will be beasting them out in the office. Probably about 50 would be the minimum expected.

You'll probably find it hard to get a jumps course with 4 para. There were 250 people wanting to go on the 96 slots for this jumps course. The funniest part is that they had a plane booked and we were going to do 5 jumps over the weekend but then it got taken off us so they sent us home for an extra...

Some platoons get more dropouts than others, there are screws who are supposed to have never passed out an original but hats off to them for getting 13 in 2 days!!!
