Re: Advice needed

Seen this morning on the tv prog Ill Gotten Gains. Not only has James McCormick, the main player in this scam, been outed and convicted, the authorities have seized loads of his kit under the proceeds of crime act. The programme also featured an interview with ex Bootneck Aaron Moon, who lost a leg ...

Re: Advice needed

I spotted this on the BBC website.
It appears that Techowiz, Scambuster/Dubious Dick/Diohuni were spot on. Good effort chaps.

Re: SAS

I work in an environment where there are roughly equal numbers of former Paras and RMs, and we all get along fine.

Richard,
One of the 'old & bold' on Once A Marine Always A Marine might be able to help, and I'm sure they would enjoy that piece of film footage.

Re: pegasus an cap badge

I don't know the exact reason for the Pegasus emblem being chosen, but it would appear that as Bellerophon was a great hero, slayer of monsters and was mounted on Pegasus it seems appropriate that he is symbolic of Airborne warriors. As to how or why the winged parachute is the cap badge, the Paras ...

Pop out to the lanes around Norton Manor Camp and most mornings (including weekends) there will be someone to jog around with.

Re: Is there any merit in creating one military force in the

I'm afraid that this is my "virtual world" and therefore everybody else's comments are rendered not valid . . . . . unless I agree with them.

The Paras would be assimilated, it's what they would have wanted. Hey, I didn't make the rules . . . . . . . well I did but that's not the point.

The Olympics

Great Britain and Northern Ireland are doing far better than I expected, with some surprising but well deserved medals along the way.
Great effort by all.

Re: St Nazaire raid

There is plenty of literature on the subject. but this sums it up for me. After the raid only 228 men returned to Britain; 169 were killed and 215 became prisoners of war. German casualties were over 360 dead, mostly killed after the raid when Campbeltown exploded. To recognise their bravery, 89 dec...

Absolutely!
In fact some should have to do it twice . . . . . at least . . . . . . . . in the rain . . . . barefoot . . . . . with no dinner!

Re: SA80 Cleaning Tips ?

A selection of brushes (some already mentioned here) and plenty of oil to flush away the dirt and carbon deposits.
I cheat and use paraffin or WD40!
Ensure it is thoroughly dried off and re-oil using issued rifle oil.

Re: Is there any merit in creating one military force in the

Yes there is great merit in creating one military force in the UK. The benefits would be enormous (Budget, control, communication, management, conformity, equipment, accommodation, streamlining etc). So my proposal would be, ahem: One cap badge - The Globe and Laurel. One Regimental March - A Life o...
