Re: press ups question!
they'll have you doing things like sprinting from one side of the gym to the other, doing 10 pressups and back again. Doing this in cycles from 10, 8, 6, 4, 2... for example. You will also do this for such things as knee jumps, sit ups, crunches, tricep dips etc. Just put in the preperation, follow ...

Re: how to become a brittish para
Your first step would be to enter an Army Careers Office (AFCO) and fill out an application. From their, you will send off some medical forms to be compelted by your doctor and optician, which will need to be cleared by the med branch in Scotland. Then; 1st Interview PSAC (Pre-Selection Aptitude Cou...

Re: Advice on medical
To be honest mate, you will probably have to sit this out until your year is up. You could attempt to try the Marines, it is a seperate application so they can't stop you, but you will be failed for the same reason. The medical requirements for each service are suppose to be equal, you fail with one...

Re: Para fitness Programme
to pass PRAC the key elements you need to focus on are; pressups - all the way up, all the way down (not wide arm) sit ups - same again, arms crossed and locked against chest (you want to be consistently reaching 50-70 of these each in 2 mins) cardiovascular fitness, stamina and agility for running ...

Re: joining the infantry...
bear this in mind pal, if you nail your ADSC and get an A (which, believe me - if you put in the preperation, isn't hard) you will be bumped somewhere at the front of the queue, ahead of all the B's, C's and so on. as you hopefully know, everything contriubtes to it; interview, barb best, ADSC the k...

Re: joining the infantry...
likelihood is mate, they will just stick you in the queue of people waiting to join that particular regiment.
they will never "ignore" your first choice, if it is truly overmanned they will undoubtedly discuss your other choices with you and go from there.
best of luck

Re: knee operations advice please
Go to your AFCO, fill in an application, they will give you some med forms to fill out with your doctor (which will cover your knee history). Once completed, you will hand back to the AFCO (including the physio reports), they will send to the med centre who will pass, defer or fail you. Then you wil...

Re: ADSC Discussions
Honestly, i;d just do what it says on the ADSC instructions. Go prepared in PT gear and tracksuit. My CO I said follow what it says on your instructions forms, there is no point in turning up in a suit. Turn up ready to go, but not like a scruffbag. Selection is about your physical fitness, and abil...

Re: knee operations advice please
chances are (depending on its severity of course), you may get a deferral for 1 or 2 years from the date the operation took place. so, if its + a year ago etc youd be fine speak to a recruiter, ask for his thoughts, plus medical requirements and the specifications on knee injury's (it's all available)

Re: ADSC Discussions
your best wearing your exercise gear, i.e shorts and a t shirt, and a tracksuit bottoms and a sweat top over them. it'll keep you warm while your standing around and easy to take off when you need to do phys. speaking of which, wear that when you turn up as well don't turn it up in a suit because yo...

Re: Joining the Paras
dont know much about the officer route mate, best off consulting your local careers office about that, but in the meantime just continue to work on your phys. dont get sloppy. then, obviously a bit closer to the time, i.e 6 months off you wanna intensify that training to get in prime condition (cons...
