There seems to be a fair bit of interest in the MA branch around here at the moment, so I'll just stick up some general MA info so hopefully everyone will be happy :). Of course if there's anything else people need to know, just ask away! So without further ado, introducing..... Everything you alway...

From what I've found so far, commando trained naval nurses are very rare, most of them are green lid MA's who later branch transfered. I know of one nurse who did a commando course while in the QARNNS, but because the course wasn't considered relevant to their job, they had to do the all arms course...

Hi Doc, nice to see you're still around :). At the moment I've just finished the 20 week tri service phase ready to start the Navy specific training when I get back; the way it works now is that the basic medical practice is common to all three services, and the more specialised service training com...

Before I start, I'd better just point out my position; Im an RN trainee medical assistant about 1/3 of the way through trade training, planning on transferring to Naval Nursing a few years after I qualify as an MA, so I've been asking around a bit. First off, yes people do join at your age, and not ...

At the moment, there's a fairly confused picture going on with MA's. The RMMA branch is currently quite strong, though there aren't many places and as said, the waiting list is massive. However if you do things the Navy way, the road is a little more reliable; you join as an MA, and from there you d...

The time between basic and trade training depends, but it's usually not that long. I finished phase one on the Friday to be at my phase two establishment on the Sunday, while most of the entry (chefs and OM's) either started on Monday or stayed in holdover for a week. The long waits come if you get ...

I'm in MA training at the moment and from what I can tell, ideas about naval MA's being blocked from doing the AACC are almost certainly rather iffy. I've had no mention of limits or blocks on the course from talking to the CO for the single service phase of MA training, the Navy News this month quo...

And you thought you'd got rid of me!
Hello again chaps, I haven't posted here in yonks but to cut a long story short (full, mind numbingly boring version available by PM), I'm back having finished Royal Navy basic training :). At the moment I'm on Easter leave having done two weeks of MA training in sunny Keogh barracks (any terrorists...

As far as I can tell this rumour is about RN MA's training as commandos, and given the information available this does seem plausible. As I mentioned in an older thread, MA training for Royal Marines has been a significant success, with places for RM MA's doubling during this year ( eight to sixteen...

Sorry to hear it al :(. First off, don't pick a job you don't want to do simply because you can't reach your target now. How old are you now though, as if you're quite young it could be best to put it on hold for a year while getting a qualification or two (and as a bonus you could use the time to i...

One other thing to bear in mind, while the waiting list is apparently a year and a half long, you might not have to wait it out completely. I've just been given a provisional start date for the 10th January, only fourteen months after the security forms went off which is no bad thing (although it do...
