Jacko,
Yes, it is my understanding that you do. I love rock climbing and backpacking. I haven't done any serious mountaineering though, but I 've been dieing to learn. It's just so expensive! I'm sure you'll have a blast at Sandhurst. From what I've read it seems like a good program. What did you ...

Jacko,
To tell you the truth, the things I am most interested in are infantry related. Ideally, I would spend some time in one of the Commandos, and then go on to the BPT, but I wouldn't mind any infantry section or company command. No para aspirations?

The POC pamphlet that the Officer Career Liason Centre gave me a month ago, states that the RMFA is administered on day one and includes timed tests, and the 300m box sprint. Is this information out of date? Jacko, where are you getting your information from? How do they work the test to the beeps ...

Where do you feel the weakness? There are several repetitive stress injuries common in the wrist area. The best way to treat minor injuries (if the pain is severe or persistent you should really see a doctor) is to first of all rest. Take a few days, even a week off. Ice the area for 15-20 minutes ...

Thanks for the heads up on the burpees Beasta! Any idea why they are called burpees?

Dan, I graduated from university in May. Don't worry too much about being younger than everyone else. How much drive and determination you bring to the POC is not necessarily function of age. Hope that interview ...

The booklet has three figures, one standing straight, one crouched down with its hands on the ground and the third in the press-up position. Any advice from Marines out there on proper form?

As for my training, the PT is coming along. I do press-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups three times a week. I ...

I'm not sure about the time between the two. I'm waiting for my initial interview myself. Since I'm applying from abroad, any correspondance takes forever. I was told you could sign up for any one of the POC's as long as there is still space! How is your training going?

Whether or not you lift should be determined by how strong you are already. If you can already reach the maximum standards and are happy with your current strength, then why lift? If however, you are struggling ito reach your PT goals, then lifting can really help. As for lifting's adverse effects ...

POC Fitness Standards (RMFA)

I recently aquired a POC preparation booklet and was interested to find out the physical requirements are significantly different from that of the PRMC. So, for any of you who are interested, they are:
Sit-ups 85 for maximum score (in two minutes)
Press-ups 60 for maximum score (no time limit ...

I ended up calling the Officer Career Liaison Centre in London. They confirmed that there are POC's throughout the year. Thanks for the replies. Does anyone who has been there feel like writing a POC diary? I'm sure there are other potential YO's who would greatly appreciate one!
