Cheers for the reply, best to get my application in ASAP then if I'll be waiting around 12 months, yeah 13:58 and throwing up is better than 12 minutes and not sweating, granted I'm scared of heights but I didn't not attempt it, I failed it through lack of balance, and I'm thinking of taking up park...

I'm back, and questions on joining the Army.

Hello everyone, my name's Joe, I used to use this forum when I was about 16/17, mainly reading but I posted a few times too. I originally wanted to join the Para's, then I wanted to join the RMR as I was interested in joining the ambulance service and there's an RMR base not far from me, however I t...

Did you find any information on your Grandad?

My Uncle was a Royal Marine from '49,
don't know how long he was in for though,
have very little information on him,
his name was Edward Charles Matthews Merryweather,
just thought he might have served with your Granddad.

Would have to be at the end wouldn't it,
I suppose no point in making a challenge easy,
bit of a contradiction.

Thinking about doing it Para_Hopeful?,
boots and bergen,
or trainers?

Don't know that much about it, and I don't if it's popular or not so I probably won't be much help. Sounds like a pretty good idea though, great as a gap year before uni or to see if the Paras are right for you, only problem I saw was the tour, they were always a bit vague on it, said they weren't 1...

Lucky you mate,
I'm from Birmingham,
we've got more canals than Venice,
but I wouldn't fancy jumping in one of them to be honest.

Err is it just me that thinks jumping in lakes in Britain even with a friend handy might not be the best idea?

Maybe when it gets a bit warmer,
but your asking for hyperthermia if you swim for 20 mins in your clothes in a freezing cold lake.

Just a thought.

This year?
I applied for it but there was an issue with me not being 18 'til the 10th of August,
so in the end they said I couldn't do it.

Any tips about the route Sandy?
Like if there's any tough bits near the end.

And I thought the great north run was 13 miles?
And it probably means without the boots and bergen,
'cus like you said that would be tougher.

Don't worry about it mate,
I want to join the marines,
specialisation comes second,
just I heard they might ask you what specialisations you've looked at and I was wondering what medical assistant involved.
Cheers.

Cheers for the PM and the info on this,
been a lot of help,
just wondering if you've got any information on the medical assistant specialisation?
Not a lot of information on it on the RM site.
Thanks.

Fair play mate, I'm not planning to join the Marines 'til about June next year, but I'll up my mileage and see if I can do 10 miles, any idea how hilly it is? I do 7.5 miles every so often and it's got a decent amount of incline and some steep hills and that's a killer. Might see you there mate depe...

Sounds like a pretty good idea,
wouldn't be doing it with a bergen mind,
don't know if I'll be ready by September,
but I'll see how I am in like July and might get me a place,
you doing it CardSharpe?

I know what you mean mate, did 3 philosophy exams on friday, got 2 more and a history. Can't wait 'til there over, bit of freedom over summer, and I'm also trying to sort out a full time job, fitness has been giving a kick up the arse starting from today. Gotta try and keep off the beer this summer ...
