NDM Campaign and others. Post Korea- Cold War etc.

Dipped out on a medal- not long enough in theatre- whatever ? A new open and transparent medals review has been promised after a year long struggle with an intransigent MoD, inept Ministers and clueless civil servants, who in the main. have never served in the Armed Forces. The previous review was h...

Re: Joining the Royal Marines, but is my tattoo 'excessive'?

Since you won't salute 'Frog' style you should be o.k. Am reminded of the Legionnaire who had ' Merde a vous' prominently displayed when saluting which caused great mirth to his mates but not to an inspecting general. And yes this is a true anecdote.

Re: Cockleshell Heroes

Nice to see you Danielchristopherlee returning. In jest; bad pennies like me suddenly turn up again. As for the film the music was awful and I will not comment on Tom Seccomb's expletives when he watched it. For anyone interested Tom was initially a National Service entry as was a celebrated SBS off...

Wholley,
Apologies for raining on your parade. Nevertheless I did not hide under anonymity.
Now in my dribbling and irascible dotage, I will visit more frequently.
Best wishes to you and the team.

This gentleman has been removed before from various military forums.
I have been in personal correspondence with him elsewhere.

Both excellent and there are some damn fine line regiments too. Anyone serving now as an infanteer is likely to see action. Possibly and I say this advisedly there are more specialist skill opportunities with Royal. I leave it to others however to make their case for whatever unit they served in. Th...

No need to keep one's trap shut. This is a democratic forum. No one has shouted, " ta geule". Also to quote Napolean; 'Ne pas oser, c'est ne rien faire qui vaille.'

Daniel, Thank you for an interesting debate which you handled with dignity. As a point of interest many ideas were put forward to Combined Ops to deal with Bordeaux problem. Mounbatten appreciated the risk factor and ordered the operation to go ahead. Despite the sad loss of life it was a marvellous...

Petition demonstrating 'thanks' for the British Armed Forces

A recent BBC survey revealed that 91% of respondents felt that serving in the British Armed Forces is a job to be proud of.
If that is correct let the population demonstrate 'thanks' by signing up.

Let us as a nation honour them properly.

Whitey,
The USMC at Fallujah were outstanding and I have read about it in considerable depth. Several act as well of personal heroism to save the local populace by all ranks.
I concur the USMC is the most lethal force on earth.
