On completion of the UXB removal the following report was sent from the Commanding Officer of Fleet Clearance Diving Team Three to Commodore Amphibious Warfare, on 29th May 1982. It was later sent on to Commander in Chief Fleet.

So, here we are forty years after the event; all looking backwards (perhaps) instead of forwards. However, that is no bad thing.
Recently I checked up on the Wikipedia entry for the UXB removal from Galahad and there, pride of place, is Jim's story (as supported by Smudge's comments here). It ...

Well, I have to say that Smudge's story is a very interesting one. Sadly, it rings no bells with me - perhaps more's the pity.
The route taken by the Galahad bomb by fork lift truck et al along the tank deck and so off the stern ramp is rather at odds with my memory of hoisting it from the battery ...
