I hate treadmills. With a passion. Because I can do a half marathon in 1 Hour 15 mins on the road, but I am unable to run under 10 minutes for a 1.5 mile on a treadmill. For a start, they do not simulate running. They simulate pushing your legs forward and having them dragged backwards by a big rota...

Well done to the both of you! Those are really good RMFA scores. Just out of interest - Are your knees still falling apart? I can't keep skin on my right knee and my left knee just swells up when I sprint. I can still run but keeping off the sprinting for a while. Matt, you got seven chin-ups ...

Just remembered a tip I picked up a while ago. Instead of sitting on the sofa to watch TV, plonk yourself on the floor. You will move every so often as one postion becomes uncomfortable after a while. You use plently of calories doing this, without realising. Also, if you make a pasta or curry dish ...

Cheers WannabBootneck, Shame about Gary, he seemed to be a nice lad. Your RMFA scores are really good. I stopped at 12.11 on the bleep because there were only two of us left and I wanted to conserve energy (plus I was confident I could tick that box). My upperbody scores were dire in comparison to y...

Learn about the new equipment. BOWMAN, VIKING, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark. One Major actually described BOWMAN as digitised radio and asked me what it was. Working in IT I know how the system actually works and drew a complete blank (don't think too hard). I looked like a right idiot. How many peopl...

Lactic acid is a bi-product of respiration which occurs in microcellular organisms called Mitochondria. It will not be produced if oxygen is present in the cell. If it is not oxidised by oxygen then it becomes toxic and hence painful. As you exercise, your lungs and cardiovascular system become more...

Well I have just returned from failing my POC. I just hit a point on the 3 mile speed march back to camp (3/4 of a mile before camp) where my knees and thighs were not going to go on any longer. I was at the front the whole way and half way through the 'Hare and Hounds' they started to sod off, so I...

POC Kit List Plea
Does anyone have a current copy of the clothing list for POC? CTC are not answering the phone, I have recharged my phone at least twice a day for the past 4 days, but all I have been listing to is a 'ring ring.' I would ask the AFCO but they seem to have very unreliable information (as we know with ...
