I was rather hoping someone would start a new thread due to how quiet this particular forum is becoming!! Best thing for your shin splints is to continue training through non-impact cardiovascular work. Swimming, cycling, etc, best you can do really without causing further harm. Best of luck in Janu...

It pays to learn a bit of background info about your chosen Regiment/Corps. Try and prepare for most of the obvious questions so you can answer them in a clear and direct way. For example; What sort of training have you been doing to make you think you're ready for the Army? Give a good think to que...

I think the main problem has already been mentioned. Personally, whilst I'm very interested in SF, from what replies I've seen to questions I've thought about myself, I would not dare post. Mainly for fear of being seen as a SF wannabe, or as a walt. So, there aren't really that many questions that ...

Hi mate, thanks for your reply. Yeah, I personally don't think it's possible to measure or estimate how fast you can run a 1.5 miler by doing a bleep test. The bleep test I did was also around the level 12 mark at the Insight Course. I'll try and get somewhere to do a bleep test in between now and J...

Sure mate, from what I remember, I got 14 pull-ups, one didn't count because my legs were still straight. Can't remember what I got on the back strength test, not sure I was given my score on that one. The jerry can walk is nothing to worry about at all. I only got 9.3 on the bleep test, but to be h...

Hi mate, it looks like I'm going again in just under a month. I was offered my second job choice which was to become an Armoured Engineer. I choice not to go for it because the appeal for me about the Paras is because of the challenge presented, so it wouldn't make much sense to give up once a chall...

ADSC in a few days. (02/12/08)
Hey guys, Here comes the big one! Nerves are setting in bigtime now. I feel I've come a very long way since my decision to join the Army, yet I can't get over how fast the ball is rolling now! I've been told by my recruiter that I may get into the January intake if I pass and phone him as soon as I ...

I can fill you in on some basic info which no doubt someone else could elaborate on. 4PARA is the TA Unit. 2 and 3 PARA are the regular Units, I believe both are based in Colchester. 1 PARA form part of the Special Forces Support Group. I don't believe there is any difference between 2 and 3 PARA, b...

Pathfinders selection.
Hey guys,
This is just a quick question about the Pathfinders, hopefully one day if I make it in the Paras, I aspire to eventually go for Pathfinder selection. How long do you have to be in the forces for before you can opt to go for selection? Thanks guys,
Ben.

Cheap multi-vits are better than nothing, especially if your meals don't vary or aren't as healthy as they should be. Fish oil is great for keeping your joints lubed up, so it's a good idea to take those while training to keep your knees in good shape. Other than that, nothing much else is needed. T...
