Hi all. Sorry to open another old post. I've got my oath on the 4th of January. I'm aware it only takes 5 minutes, in and out kinda thing (that's what she said) but my Dad is asking if he can come along. He's ex Army and he's taking a real interest in my joining up, which is a good thing. I'm not su...

I have a very close friend who left the Army due to bullying - for being gay - and this was about 5 years ago. His room was trashed on several occasions and at the worst point someone tried to strangle him in his room. I think its disgusting that people are so small minded to think that being gay is...

grantdw - When I went for selection no tracksuit was provided, we did everything in our own shorts/t-shirt. This was inthe middle of summer though so take a tracksuit too. Kolkol - Your runtime sounds good. It obviously depends on what job you're going for though. You won't do pushups or sit ups at ...

Yeah, just to echo the two previous posts, the Legion doesn't take criminals. Very tight checks etc. (unless you're JCVD, then they'll let you back in)
Take your punishment. All could be well and you'll get to join the Army.

Not sure if it's the kind of thing you're after but it's a bloody good read:
Making a killing. 'tis about security contractors in Iraq......yeah, not what you asked for. I'll go back to my hole.

You should'nt worry too much about your first run time. Mine was piss poor when I first started running and I was running nearly every day and doing a best effort 1.5 once a week. I then got some advice to just do best effort 1.5 every other day and rest inbetween. First timed run after this was ove...

hey. My first choice used to be Geo Tech....until I spoke to someone down the local TA centre. He said its a great job if you like playing on google earth and photocopiers all day.
AFCO or a TA centre will be a good place to ask if no one on here can help.

To be fair I thought that before I went but take my word for it. The only time over the weekend when we had to do any pushups was after the 2.4km run and that was only as a punishment for people talking. That was a s a whole group though, not individual. There were some guys who couldnt keep up and ...

Just don't worry about it. By the time you do it you will have had plenty of time to get chatting with other lads so it won't feel like you're talking to complete strangers. The 2 minutes will fly by. Even if you only say a little about each bullet point, 2 minutes is barely enough. I could've talke...
