If you've already done your BARB and your medical you will not have to repeat it on your RSW. The whole process between your application and you getting to weekend 1 varies, there's loads of variables that can slow down the process. With regards to the time it will take to complete your Basic traini...

Selection or RSW as it's called is basically the same as Regular Army selection. You do some team tasks, PFT run (2.4k proceeded by an 800m warm up), strenght tests and possibly as BARB test. This will usually be conducted at your local Training Bde. over the course of a weekend. As for application ...

Good advice from the lads as normal. I'd consider going on short runs on soft ground to break your boots in, try and get over varying terrain. Don't blast yourself in them just go at a nice staedy pace and do some speed marching in them. I'd do far more running in GOOD trainers just to get the ol' c...

I'm guessing it was an RSW you went on, your correct that if you wish to airborne then you have to obtain higher standards the other units there. When I say airborne I don't just mean 4 Para, when I did the RSW I had to attain higher standards than other potential recruits due to my unit being an ai...

You should get a letter from your unit stating what you'll undertake whilst there and a list of kit you'll need for the three days. You'll perform: an ice breaker Physical tests including 2.4km run and test of upper and lower body strenght. Basically it's all the same as the regs, have a scout round...

Obi Wans right! There is an element of luck involved in accuratley estimating the position of a mobile target 4 seconds after you've pulled the trigger. I think the longest confirmed kill was by a Canadian called Carl Furlong at circa 2500y with a McMillan Tac.50 (not a Barrett, contrary to popular ...

Thats a decent time mate, but you can always do better :o :D As mentioned by others you yourself will know if it was a good time within yourself as only you will know if you gave 100 percent or if you slacked.# Good effort anyway, keep it up! I get the impression you are of the japanese racing snake...

I am again this year. IMO it's a worthwhile insight into the type of training the Paras do. By all means do the event but I'd suggest setting a goal(depending on fitness) and TRAINING towards it some months prior to the event. This was the first insight into any form of tabbing/speed marching I ever...
