Unless you carry a GPMG or are in a FIBUA or CQB environment there is not much need for you to carry a 'side arm.' It's not 'Call of Duty'. The issued 'side arm' nowadays is a Sig Sauer P226 - for all the spotters out there.

You do quite alot of swimming in phase 1 of training so it's up to you really if you want to be a biff and scrape through every phys session in the pool. Just spray them up mate, the shines practically the same but alot less hassle as it takes hours to layer them up and you'll probably get some nobber stand on your foot and scuff them.
