Re: Do paras carry a side arm

Unless you carry a GPMG or are in a FIBUA or CQB environment there is not much need for you to carry a 'side arm.' It's not 'Call of Duty'. The issued 'side arm' nowadays is a Sig Sauer P226 - for all the spotters out there.

Re: Gay Military Personnel

Hi I am a producer for an artist who is creating a new body of work, we are looking for openly gay tri forces personnel for a series of portraits. I have produced many pieces of work but this for some reason seems the biggest challenge yet. The subject seems to make people clam up a little - its a ...

All sorts of body shapes join and pass, let them decide if you're too skinny. You don't need fat stores to crack training.

It's probably worth being able to dive aswell as I can't say for other troops but our troop had something at the end of most sessions called 'Magaluf' training where everyone had to do a decent dive off the high board in order to leave the pool. However, there were some complete biffs who just could...

From what I understand the reason they do swimming in training is because it is an alternative form of non impact exercise and it is good for expanding the lungs. You won't be going into the pool and doing loads of lengths which is good because that is just boring. It's mostly sprints, hypoxic swimm...

I don't want to piss on your chips mate but you don't really come across too many 18/19 year old officers unless they've done some pretty exceptional stuff in their life - and I'm not talking A* at GCSE's and A-levels. The sort of 19 year old who is going to come in and take over a troop of battle h...

It's a phase 2 training establishment where all the mega blokes from RLC do their driver training, alot of RM lads who finish training do theirs there also.

The answer to your question is as many as you can. You do quite alot of swimming in phase 1 of training so it's up to you really if you want to be a biff and scrape through every phys session in the pool. It may not be a test at first but it soon becomes one when you do the battle swimming test and ...

Just spray them up mate, the shines practically the same but alot less hassle as it takes hours to layer them up and you'll probably get some nobber stand on your foot and scuff them.

Re: Penpal anyone?

I tried this on the Para section this morning though haven't exactly been innundated so far. You're better off staying away from that lot, I can't think of anything more disapointing then being a penpal with the Reg - a load of monosyllabic words written with a half eaten crayon, hardly a thrilling...
