I know they always say "practice makes perfect", but there are usually quicker approaches. Rather than concentrate on the 3 miles, I'd work on your 1.5 first. My main reason for this is that its been proven that a quick high intensity run is better for fat burning (if that's a problem) and...

For the test bit, I did a 2 week driving course during a leave period, though I know alot of people learn on base; I see driving schools cars waiting at the main gate all the time. As for the A3. Think logically. You live in Leeds and most likely will be based in Plymouth or Faslane, which you're sp...

Indeed it does. Alternate plants everytime otherwise you'll start getting leg pains in just one leg. Also, don't think of it as "planting" your leg... This puts alot of stress on it, try and do a REALLY small diameter corner instead so that you're not constantly putting alot of pressure on...

HIIT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training HIIT increases the RMR (resting metabolic rate) for the following 24 hours due to EPOC (Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption), and may improve VO2 max more effectively than doing only traditional, long aerobic workouts. I swear by...

It's basically just simple maths and English to make sure you have at least a few brain cells. Any GCSE revision site (is bitesize still around?) should help.

Indeed, I'm sure you'll get used to the phrase "bullshit". We used to own unworn shirts that we'd use for inspection...though some people got picked up with the card bits still stuck in the collar :P Klear is hella good for inspections, I use it weekly for parade. The only problems as you ...

I did 8 weeks basic in the Navy and didn't get any time off. Quite a few people got homesick I must say. If it's anything like us, we can go home most weekends. Set off on a Friday afternoon and have to be back by Monday morning (so usually a Sunday night thing). Also, you get 7 weeks of leave a yea...

I know when I went to LA Fitness to do my run the treadmill didn't calculate the speed up/slow down speeds. Either way, they should be able to tell you the minimum when you get there, but as long as you can do it on about 16kmph normally then you'll be fine. Also, while on the subject, if you want t...

How about concentrating on getting in the marines first? It might give you a slight edge.. but I don't think you can actually join straight as armed response; you have to get selected for it. Therefore it probably depends on your reports through them and your aptitude displayed on their tests. If yo...

For the Navy we were advised to take briefs but I'm not a fan of the Y-fronts so I used boxers for everything. Failing that, go commando but just make sure you don't get skids in your PT rig :P There was a mixture of both on our basic, though I took a small suitcase. Whatever you take will probably ...

Haha, it took me 3 weeks to crack before I went and busted out a special shit. I heard some people lasted our full 8 weeks training before giving themselves that much needed "helping hand" :o

Oh, and get used to talks like this, it's part of daily life :P

Anyone get any recommendations for Nike+ compatible trainers?
