Thats what its there for. Your attitude is what is the important factor at anyone time through your application pro...

Fitness gear? A set of stairs. Use the lower three steps to do repetative up and down walking like you do in a Gym on a bench. Want to increase your Abs? Lie down on the floor with your arms stretched out behind your head with a tin of baked beans in your hands or any full tin for that matter. Then...

I'm signing up because I've always had an interest in the Armed Forces. However South Africa's armed services are S H 1 T! With a capital S. Above and beyond that is a desire to serve people. I had two choices, the police or the armed forces (and in my case I'm aiming for the Royals) and I chose arm...

Seeing as how voting is closed.

Had a good long think and I'd be up for the 12th of May. Should be a good laugh if nothing else.

You can also look up Krav Maga. This is the unarmed combat/self-defence taught in the Israeli armed services and is now being taught by civvies as well. Not sure if its is similar to what they teach in the RM but it is fairly basic principles - simple arm locks, punches, kicks, throws, counters.

Quick question i have about the holding troop. My local RMR unit is 45miles approx. Will the unit pay for travelling expenses at this stage as to be honest i can't afford it. Unfortunately you will only be reimbursed travelling expenses once you pass selection and begin your training but it is for ...

Huzzah, best 5k time is 19:38.4! I'm a rower myself and let me tell you, the lactic acid endurance (anaerobic?? endurance) you build up on an ergo meter is second to none. They are the devil incarnate. If you have access to one and are looking for some great exercises, PM me and I'll set you straigh...

What's to stop you running? Swimming is good for low impact CV but honestly you have to keep the running up.

There is also nothing stopping you going to the RMR detachment offices and speaking to them as well. They give you alot of advance notice for weekends and the 2 week courses. You may find that you are able to fit them in. But like has already been stated, the AFCO is the place to start.

You mention Aircrew.

Does that include pilots?
As far as I know, yes but they are officers. NC Marines are the crew of the helicopter but do not fly it.

Its actually to do with BMI and body shape.

I'm 176cm (175.5 but the nice doc rounded up) and 95kgs at last weigh in (bmi 30.7). the doctor told me my BMI has to be under 30 to continue. To do that I need to be 92kg (1 pt of BMI = 3 kgs :(). I am also heavier than most because I have a larger frame. My comfortable weight should be around 83-8...

There is no more 22 year term with the Navy (as well as the Royal Marines). If you serve 18 years, you get full pention. The biggest stickler is for those who join before they are 22. They have to serve until they are 40. The extra years/months served are taken into account and their pension is a li...
