personal bests and managing to achieve set goals are always great for motivation. just dont say "right today i am going to run a 4 minute mile" you will only end up getting disapointed.

i do pyramid swims twice a week. swimming was always something i was very good at. if you enjoy swimming its a great way to do some good exercise. try and get yourself up to 1-2km. also it makes a good change from running, no impact on those bones

some people may find this helpful

for anyone thinking of AIB or anything like that

http://www.fact-index.com/

somewhere in there is a list of all military battles between 1500 and the current day, with a few words on each. great as a first source for your naval history as it includes some handy links!

i think lads in their teens use the majority of their testosterone for the growth spurt that you get at this time of life. when you hit about 18 or so hit the weights as you will feel more benefit.

also be careful and make sure you give yourself PLENTY of time to rest at your young age

gyms are good for focus.

i do enjoy a good outdoors run though, the fact that we get nice hills and stuff makes it all the more interesting.

if fatman wants it bad enough he can do it. but he has a long long way to go.

the 1.5 in under 10 mins should be a good gym warm up

as i understand it for weights to make a difference then the body requires testosterone for aiding the muscle development. As a teenager your body wont have the right levels to really make a difference. i would recomend at aged 15 to concentrate on running, cycling and swimming. get involved in spor...

i'm happy that i've decresed my time for the run by 4 mins but still got some way till i reach the 9 - 12 min mark although i'm not sure you could call it a full run as it's more like run then walk and more run, Friday 23/4/04 1.5mile/2.4km run - 22 Mins 10 seconds Push ups - 10 Sit ups - 40 Saturd...

dont take this the wrong way, but 18 minutes for 1.5 miles is awful. that is a fast walk, not a run.

you really need to think about what your chances are of ever getting fit enough to join the army.

you have to halve your time aim under 10 minutes at least.
