How hard did you have to work initially?

Before you decided you wanted to join the paras, what were you fitness and strength levels? A year or so ago, I was seriously unfit, and had little muscle. I'm just curious, because I know that if I hadn't have wanted to join the paras I wouldn't have put in all the training I have, i'd be a fat laz...

Measuring distances

Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can measure (fairly accurately) how far I have run? Like a GPS system or somthing?

Cheers

I do cross-country fartleks,

well, only because there is no track near me.

A track isn't necessary for interval or fartlek.

How many people fail on medical?

Just been talking to a mate of mine (ex-mil), and he's just said about 50% of people fail on medical if not more (i think this may have been an exaggeration).

Just how many do fail on the medical, and what are the most common reason(s)?

Cheers

Diet

I've really only just started training for entry to the paras, im in a poor poor state of fitness at the moment, and I was just wondering:
What are the best types of food I could be eating to help me with my training?

Cheers

Body shape/build

This may seem like a rediculous question but...

I'm Endo/Mesomorphic, more endomorphic.

Just wondering, were/are any of you current/ex/hopeful paras endomorphic in any way?

It's gonna be harder to reach para standards being part endomorphic, but I will get there.

Milling training

Hi Me and a mate are currently training up for the Paras and are doing all sorts of training to prepare ourselves. The thing I want to know is, is it worth getting my mates training gloves (I believe they are the same size as the ones used in milling) and beating the crap out of each other? Will it ...

It's down to the user, and how he uses the equipment. That goes for weapons especially.
