PRMC v Recruit Selection Centre (Army)

Does anybody know what are the differences between the Army Selection test and the PRMC ?

I've been told that depending how well you do in the Army Selection test depends on what regiments you can join. Is this the same for PRMC scores?

What about basic training. What do the Marines do that the ...

You get 3 goes at the PRMC and 3 attempts to pass any one of the criteria tests which you get during your 30 weeks.

One guy on my PRMC failed for the 3rd time so it's the Navy for him.

Well done guys especially Jamie. I was on the same PRMC as Jamie but had to pull out with a knee injury after the 3 mile run. As for the drill instructor, it was me who he decieded to punish with a shit load of a abuse but I had to laugh it off.

A few more tips, learn the ranks before you go ...

Nerves are not 3 bad at the minute but I'll start shittin' kittens come Tuesday when I'm set and travelling down.

Should be OK when I get there. Just remember that there are 50-60 others all feeling the same so it's just a case of settling in and get on with the 3 days.

I'm going to write up a ...

Your best bet is to apply just now. It can take a good 7/8 weeks to pass the written test, medical and interview sectons of the application. Also, you have to complete a security form which can take 3 months to clear.

Depending on how bad your injury is, you might struggle to do some parts of the ...

I'm going in at at normal level as I've missed the cut off point for applications for officers course this year.

You need to apply by Dec this year for the start of the course in Sept. 2003. For me thats too much of a wait. Only 1 course per year is run.

I've already wasted 5 years joining the rat ...

I couldn't join the RMR because then I would have to keep my full-time job and I HATE it! Even if they doubled my wage and chucked in a BMW then I would still want to leave.

I want to live, breath, eat and sh*t Marines so the RMR really isn't for me.

My PRMC is on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September. IF I pass then who knows when I'll get called up but the CPO dealing with my application was asking how much notice I needed which is 1 month so possibly mid to end of October.

I'm travelling down with 3 other guys for the area but it's going to be a ...

Good to see someones on the same boat as myself. I work for Balfour Beatty but it too is a crap office job. I'll be giving up a nice wee flat, company car and some cash to go to the Marines (Good job I've got a loving Mother who is going to take me in.) I'm 22 in three weeks and I feel I've already ...

Sorry, didn't mean to sound cheeky about the drinking thing but the guy I was talking to was in the Army, and by the sounds of things thats all they spent there money on. I stopped drinking when I started training for the Marines as I was getting the ole' beer gut sydrome.

Sorry if I sound ignorant ...
