I'm thinking of the RIR cos I'm a leg. I respect cav lads but its not for me. Rather fight on my feet then in a steel coffin and I wouldn't want to be in the Irish guards cos I don't fancy wearing one of them stupid hats. No offence. Also I don't fancy having to stand in front of some building in th...

Re: Irish Guards

Hmm, it looks like that at this stage, the replys to your question have come to a screaming halt. Here are a couple of Links that you might like to try and perhaps make contact with the Irish Guards Association in the Republic of Ireland. http://www.army.mod.uk/ig/irish_guards_association/republic_...

I understand that but I was just looking for serving members who could tell me how they went about it, difficulties encountered, what to look out for and most importantly would they have done anything differently.

I'm from N.Ireland, why don't you just join the Irish army? Also why does It have to be an Irish Regiment? You could join any regiment in England even couldn't you/he? The Irish army is pretty good but I'd like to do something with the training I get such as a UN mission or even just serve overseas...

Looking for Irish nationals serving in British Army.

I'm 18, was born in Ireland and I'm Irish. I'm looking for people who are Irish but serve in the British Army as I was thinking of joining maybe the Irish Guards or the Royal Irish Regiment and was wondering how I would go about it? Any difficulties I'd encounter and how I'd be treated back in Irela...

I know that a good few of the royal family have served in your armed forces but have any of them actually served in a unit overseas or during wartime?

I saw the opener for the new series. In the first 2 mins of it most of the original cast get killed in an ambush in tikrit. The thing is they must not have signed on at all for the 3rd series cos you don't even see their faces. You just see them walk into a building and then it explodes.

Child soldiers?

I recently found out that great britain is one of the many countries that uses child soldiers. Needless to say I was shocked. I have a few questions which I'd like answered though, just to answer my curiosity. Are they only recruited and trained at 16 or do they serve? What do you servicemen think o...

That chap hassan the scaffolder is my bet for best recruit cos of the way he handled kip trying to pretend he was injured:

Kip:"Oww! My leg, my leg"
Hassan: "Don't care!, get moving"

He pratically carried that waster on the route march.
