RAuxAF 'beard' question.

Quick query, Is it acceptable to have a beard in the RAuxAF (gunner), or would you have to be clean shaven. I notice a lot of the guys have full beards on ops, just wondering if it is a tolerated exception due to cultural significance in some of the communties there, or if you can have one anyway. I...

Re: Will we ever have an enemy attacking an airbase?

There has been a slight mention in the RAF forums about just how useful the RAF Regiment are and why they defend an airbase all day with nothing happening- no enemy is attacking them. So I thought it might be a good time to ask ourselves this: Will we ever fight an enemy that uses it's planes again...

Nice one, you ask a supposed 'serious question' about becoming an RMP and how you 'like the idea' and you didn't mean anything against the guys who were killed. Then you attack Goldie because he is 'merely' an ex RMP! What you lack (apart from a brain that appears to exist merely to perform motor-fu...

C4, just listen to me...don't get worked up over them lot. Be careful what you say. :-? Plus points to RMP- A great job to do, being a redcap is a true role of responsibility. You control whats going on (making sure the lads don't get into trouble), provide security, close protection, etc. I have a...

Paratrooper, as much as I would love to, I'm too old now :( The RAF boys have a much higher age limit. But, again, I like your style mate! My brother has done some work with the reserve boys out in Iraq and was impressed.

 Like a twat, I've discovered more info since posting that. It appears it's merely the rapier squadrons that are being fazed out, as opposed to the 'infantry' type ground defence (which is the bit I'm interested in) so no dramas! If I'm wrong, someone please jump in and correct me. Paratrooper....

RAF Regiment disbanded?

Whilst researching the Regiment, I came across this: On 12 July 2004, it was announced by Geoff Hoon that the RAF Regiment will relinquish the Ground-Based Air Defence role as the threat from air attack had diminished. This role will now only be carried out by the Royal Artillery, and the four RAF R...

Hope that's not aimed at me bud. You know nothing about me and, if it is, you're well off the mark.

Iraq War Diary.

Hi chaps, my brother is currently on deployment in Iraq. He is writing a regular diary in the Scotsman newspaper on the conflict. Here is the link: If anyone is interested, I'm quite happy to post the links as the articles are published. Cheers! http://news.scotsman.com/scotland.cfm?id=211622006 htt...
