Women in the royal air force are no longer allowed to do "girly" press ups. Does anyone know if this is true for the navy aswel??? Also, does anyone know how long there is between when you sign up to when your PJFT is? Just an estimation from experience would be great. Thanks! PJFT? The 1...

As long as you are fit enough to pass the DPFT you'll be fine. The phys you will be doing in your drybag will be completely new to you and the only way that it isn't going to be bloody horrible is if you have done it before and have the right techniques. Most people fail the diving aptitude because ...

They are back to back, if the clubswinger is feeling kind, he might let you have a swig of water.

Stating that you have prior diving experience will help your application in the careers office. Placements are competitive, getting to Raleigh for basic training is one thing, however, getting a place on course is a different kettle of fish entirely and failure rates are high. You shouldn't be looki...

AW - The acquaint has been covered numerous times on other threads, do your homework on here and all will be revealed.

Obelix - how did it go? Were you on the same acquaint as the lad who got a 'shin splint' in his thigh after the DPFT, the wee fella looked like he was going to have a bit of a blub.

Under 9:30 is good, but if you aim for under 9 minutes then you will be laughing.

Fastest time on the last aptitude was something like 7:50.

Press-ups are not important in the slightest.

10.03 is slow as fcuk, you will suffer big time if you don't get that time down. The course is a 90% failure rate, steel yourself for that and learn to embrace sleep deprivation and constantly being cold and wet.

One of my oppos went for selection with 63, the impression he gave was that it was an "if your face fits..." mentality. But i'm sure thats the impression anyone would get having been turned away.

Best option is to give them a call and find out for yourself. Good luck!

Dude, seriously, don't go for muppet. If you want to be a diver then at your stage of the game you need to do it now, they wouldn't even let you think about sidewards entry into the diving branch until you have served 3 or 4 years as a muppet. Don't let them talk you into doing a job you don't want ...

If you're already fit then the phys you will do in Raleigh is easy. The circuit training is good though as you can really push yourself. If you're a biff, then it is going to hurt and you will hate it. The gym queens will push you, but if you're in good shape then you will have to push yourself to g...

Harry - It was going well, but I picked up an injury so i'm getting massages from some shhhexy physio chicks for the next couple of weeks.

Raring to go for the next course, just hoping the damage done isn't permanent. Ace course though, even with all the beastings.

Thats the time spent on draft, you won't be at sea for the whole time. You'll be posted to either Pompey or Faslane.

Of course, this is the least of your worries. You've got to pass the course first.
