It's not the 1950s tab, its not the same 'enemy.' But while I agree that you can learn alot in 14 months of doing it, I would say at least 75% of the troops lack the actual confidence in there skills and relations with the local populace for awhile. Also it makes me curious of how they train soldier...

IDF Foreign Volunteer program

First of all hi y'all, long time no posting, been to busy cursing the cold and crunching around the tundra for too long. I have a fellow in my section who's rather angry at the CF right now for lack of deployment, action, adventure and generally being scared sh*tless. So far to my knowleedge he's ap...

I don't know about Iraq, but in Bosnia, Serbia and places like that they used to have recruiting posters up all around the place, make something like $10,000 a month. If you lived through the month, you were one haggard looking individual, I know of a a few guys who just upped and walked off with we...

A good write up, those guys over there aren't getting anywhere as much support as is needed.
Especially with all these allegations and claims about violations of ROEs and such.

I don't know about you lot but I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

sneaky beaky, you said this If Saddam had built his long range gun, or had got his hands on nuclear material, we might have had a reason to invade. But he didn't! We cannot be the World's policemen! Are yopu going to invade a country which has WMD to which there is no real defense but distance, and ...

Frankly its breathtakingly hypocritical of the US to declare the UN irrelevant but demand the rest of the world comply with its resolutions to the letter or else. I wouldn't say so because the UN needs the US, the US doesn't need the UN. Anyone who has ever been off to Bosnia in the early days can ...

Wholley would be right. I should think.

Although I don't agree with saying the poppy is a pro-war symbol, I can see where the idea might come from.

The pro war symbol should be a gas can, I should think.

KlinkKlank, as far as I am concerned the US hasn't done anything wrong, the UN has allowed this so called 'breach' to go on with out any real protest or attempts to stop it. Allt his has done is to basically condone the American's action. A lack of action here is to set a precedent allowing others t...

Whats all this crap I keep on hearing about "illegally" occupying a country? Last time I checked the UN didn't do anything to stop it, making it 'illigitimate' how? As far as I'm concerned the day the UN didn't do anything it made this a 'valid' war. Even the whole idea of any kind of fair...

"I've never come across debauchery like this in 15 years in the Army."
Yes, he should take the helmet off his head.

Why do people always take photos or movies of all the silly things they do, I don't so I don't get caught.
