Well Done Chris. My only regret in life is not sticking with my training. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable career with the RM. My friend has now been in the GG for 16 years and has recently achieved WOII at only 33. He's worked hard and got through some pretty tough times. I can see a WO1 coming...

Sam Salt

I have only just read that Rear-Admiral Sam Salt died on the 3rd December. For those who are not aware. Rear-Admiral Salt was the Captain of HMS Sheffield during the Falklands war in 1982, when it was sunk by an Exocet missile with the loss of 20 crew members. Those members of the ships company who ...

I read "Pegasus Bridge" by Stephen E Ambrose a few years back. The book mentions Richard Todd and the part he played in the taking of this famous bridge.

Another of the old great actors and a true war hero.

RIP Cpt Todd

Philip Laing Sentanced

Philip Laing, the 19 year old student who urinated on a war memorial has been sentanced. Missing out on a jail term he has been given 250 hours community service. I Just hope this community service is aimed at a military charity or home. As much as I found this act deplorable and wouldn't pee on Mr ...

Well I think we both agree with each other then Daniel

As for what you say about the unassuming guys, I would again agree. Just look at Frank Collins (RIP) or some of the lads on the SAMA82 remembrance page. Some of the most unassuming charactors you're likley to see.

The main difficulty is not your body but your mind. You only gain perseverence by persevering. you only gain endurance by enduring. The human spirit is capable of far more than you can imagine. I'd rather be a skinny f@#k than a fat bastard ! Good luck and may the Force be with you ! :D Daniel Bord...

Independant report on the 5.56mm round

A work mate sent me this link regarding an independant report on the reliability of the 5.56mm NATO round. Being a report it's pretty long but still an interesting read.
