Hi
I recently saw a picture of a twin seater Eurofighter Typhoon.
Does anyone know if this is a trainer or will the typhoon be like the tornado with a pilot up front and a weapons man at the back?

The two seat Typhoon you saw is the Typhoon T1 which is used for training. When we get them the operational ones will be single seat Typhoon F2's

I've just been to Farnborough 2004.
The Typhoon was supposed to be the star of the show.
What a wimpish performance it was and I think restricted by development. It's only taken 20 years!!. Very spectacular in it's take off and rate of climb but totally outshone by the American F-16 and F-18. Why didn't we just buy these airplanes?

My brother was on one of the trade stands last Tuesday and Wednesday and he reckons the New Tiffie was poor in comparison to others, he is surprised that BuffHoon hasn't drastically cut this programme.

No but in this case I think it does. The Typhoon does not reach its Full Operational Capability until 2010 somewhere. At that point it will have practically the same capabilities the F-16 and F-18 have now.

Sorry ELP, but I can't resist this.
On the first day of Farnborough 2004, a US Air Force B52, was supposed to make a pass over Farnborough, having flown all the way from Texas and then flying all the way back. (A pretty good training mission I would think).
On that first day - the commentator was heard, saying " If you look to your left, you will see the US Air Force B52 approaching. Well - it seems to be having a problem. It actually circled over Blackbush Airfield which is about 5 miles west of Farnborough.!! Although it could be seen in the distance - it didn't actually pass over the proper airfield! I wonder what happened to the navigator!! It was not a good advert for the USAF!!

I was at conningsby on a summer camp (cadet thing) and got to climb all over a two seater thang- I must say that they do rock, as for the fact that

- If what I heard was true, then it will be far better, for example, fully laden and fuel'd up, it weighs less than a harrier jump jet with empty tanks and no weapons - it doesn't even need afterburners to get off the ground as the F-whatevers normaly do. It is impossible to put into a spin. I'll say that again so you heard right, because I certainly didn't when I heard that - It is
impossible to put into a spin. It will have a beyond-the-horizon missile to bequipped about 2010 -2012 and they have no idea how fast it will be able to go -

ooooohhhh yeahhhh, ownage!
....
yeah, I feel like a right annorack right now

Jobs mate. If we simply buy our technology in from furriners we lose the know-how ourselves and our workforce loses out.
I'm all for backing British manufacturing. Think how many ex-squaddies need those jobs.
