Apparently going to be on the front page of the Sun on Thursday (watched Newsnight).
I know it's in the Sun so chances are it's not true but i have heard rumours also that 42 might be going?
Anybody got any information (Mirror/Sun journalists need not reply).

Bye Dan

Nice knowing you mucker. Unfortunately all your kit will be too big for me but I'll happily chuck a few quid in to the kit sale

Dan should be safe, he's in 42. Since it's in the Sun and all and sundry know now, it's safe to say I think, 40 Commando are meant to be deployed, they're doing the intense training package & 42 are due to go to US if they haven't gone already. But the MODs response is right, no official decision as of yet. I Dunno about the Black Watch though, our boys are going up in the North then ey, bit more risky. 40 have had an influx of new kit to, lotsof MINIMIs, if any of the mod's think that this is endangering Operational Security, then delete as appropriate.

Met a Guy the other day who told me he was a Bootneck (his words were I'm a Marine) and had just come back from Iraq doing Sneaky Beaky things. Which he couldnt really say anything about.
Being as I know for a fact that last year he was in the TA (PRONG tried to get me to join in Crewe. I'm now 48!) I summised he was telling Porkies and showed him my RMA badge which at first he did not regonize. It's a bloody Globe and Laurel for Gods sake!
Informed him that if I ever caught him passing himself of as a Bootneck again I would Rip His Head of and Sh*t in his Lungs! This had the desired effect and he left rather quickly for a prior appointment he had suddenly remembered.
Another 800 Bootnecks off to help B'liars dreams of Farking Glory! What a waste of time and men.

It seems to me that the elite are being sent to sort out other forces cock-ups. Best of luck lads we are behind you all the way, I wish that Blair and Hoon were standing shoulder to shoulder with you.

All the best to the lads if they do go. Keep low and watch your backs for journo's and lawyers.
Good Luck.

Just wish I was still in!
May sound daft but it was what I wanted to do and was what I did and even though I'm now a War Pensioner (or as B'liars Government have decided to call me a War Veteran!) I just wish I was there doing what I once did.
40 was my first draft on completion of Commando trg Feb 1974. So I always look on 40 as "My Unit"
Get out there Lads, do your thing, but please all come back safe. For Petes sake. Neg heroics just be what your are..... Royal Marines. The Best.

Artist you & my brother share that fact then, this is his first draft to 40 and also his first Op. Mother's wetting herself over him going, but strangely, I honestly think he'll come back without a scratch, I simply have faith in all the training there doing & have done, and the fact that he's gonna be the fella letting rip with a new MINIMI! My main worry is, a small group of lads being taken by surprise up North and captured. They'll be out there soon enough anyway! Good luck to all deployed forces, hopefully Royal being there might put the wind up a few of these 'insurgents' & make 'em think twice.

Good Luck to the light blue lanyard, all the best Lads.
What next for the Royal Marines? Every sane person hopes the answer is nothing, but only a fool and politicians would bank on it.
One thing at least is certain. If the Royal Marines have to fight again, they will do the job with their traditional courage, daring and resolution following the footsteps of their forebears.Aye JR

When we left 40 in December, it was already on the calender that 40 would be going back out to Iraq later on in the year (December/January). Jed who as you know is one of six Royal Marines out here in Germany will be going out again in October with 21 Engineer Regiment which is part of 4 armoured Brigade. This time for six months. As for the lads at 40 they knew they were going back out there so its no surprise for them or their families. I have spoken to a few of the wives back in Taunton and moral is very high. Lets just hope that he useless welfare department get their bloody act together this time...unlike last.
