I wonder if there is anybody out there who remembers the Barracks on top
of the hill--with the clock-tower? :multi: :

Yes Tug, Mtarfa became a naval hospital.I spent New Years Day there on 1st Jan 1975.
The night before I had an altercation with several locals.I was with Ross McVicar the son of Sandy McVicar and broke my hand on one of the Spi**s heads.
As I was the first 'customer' of the day the surgion commander asked what had happened so I told him I had fallen up the stairs after tripping over a dog.His words to me were 'Well I think you have poked someone'.
'Self inflicted wound that Royal, but we wont tell anyone as its New Year eh'
Got me off the hook he did.
Next day I was walking on Sliema front and came across the Sp*k with his jaw all wired up.We went for a Hop Leaf together.

My Maltese wife was looking over my shoulder when reading this topic and was most offended.
Sp*c is of course spelt with a 'c' at the end and not a 'k'. She asks that you get it right in future.

Sharky,
La La La, no offence to your missus mate. This was
remeniscence of a bygone age before political
correctness. Esmali Mrs Sharky.
BTW I will be in Plymouth in a week or two
so will buy you the equivalent of a Hop Leaf.
Aye Sunman

.
For those who dont know the nearest I can get to
phonetic spelling of the Maltese words La means No
and Esmali is Sorry.Thats about right eh Sharky.

What cheor ?
M'tarfa always sounded like something written by Rider Haggard
St.Georges,HQ - St.Andrews, 40 and Rabat (45) did a DR's there, great...
Simmons Farsons Cisc to you Sunman........
The speed we made when we saw the septic truck coming eh.... and the detour when it was parked.
OK Tug - Malta in the fifties and sixties was great and the trips to Cyprus
( where 'everyone' goes for their holidays now ) weren't you lucky......

Nutter tug,
I remember it from before you joined. A road led down to Rabat. There was a very tight bend with a big mirror. At the bend you could smell perfume, but when you tried to find it, it had gone.

Bonswa to all our Maltese members
Sat in a bar on the front in Sliema, holls 92, me and future Mrs H swigging Cisk and having the craick with the few Maltesers at the bar. In walk two of Hitler`s finest, demonstrating all the charm and finesse that the Aryan Nation are famous for. Eventually, Herman demands that the barman take a phot. Without a word being exchanged, the little barman walks outside the bar and positions the Germans between us and the camera. One, two, three, smile and everyone either does the bird or gives two fingers. Priceless
Malta will be O.K. when it`s finished

I do remember that. M'tarfa was the last place that five men ever slept ashore. As for the sixth man, I am not sure if he was sleepng there or not.
Another five men slept ashore, at locations other than M'tarfa.
