A few questions

Morning all. I'll introduce myself firstly; I'm Ross, currently 18 years old, starting my 3rd year at college in September. I want to join the army, primarily the Parachute Regiment, however I've a few questions I'd be very grateful you answered. :-)

Firstly, I'm undecided as to whether or not I should join as an officer or a soldier. My background is not too great in comparison to other potential officers as I can imagine they have a lot of experience behind them already due to CCF etc, and I've also heard that people my age have been rejected due to 'lack of experience' or that they are too young. So what are the chances of me being accepted without a degree or any significant experience?

During CIC Para, as a soldier, will there be many opportunities for me to lead?

I'm sure I have more but I can't think of them right now!

Thanks a lot folks :-)

If you want to join the Para's then go for it and lose the self doubt, as they say in the Para's failure is not option. In the Paras it is all about self belief and doing the impossible, so if you think already that you are not good enough, that will mean you a probably not good enough as you give up to easily.

I'm aware that motivation and determination is a big part of the Parachute Regiment, I'm just unsure as to whether or not (on paper) I look good enough to become an officer.

Thanks!
