Answers would be appreciated

Hi all, been trawling internet for advice on if the army would be a good move for me and stumbled across this website which looked neat and informative so joined.

I'm 19 and really fancy joining army, rang local army offices and am going to pop in asap for interview or whatever procedure they use.

Just wondering really what everyone's personal fitness SHOULD be when they join ? also i play football for Welshpool Town was just wondering are their football/sport teams etc for recreational time as i've heard recreational time in the army part of daily life ?

Lastly, i've heard that anyone with back/chest acne can't get into the army ?

Armys pretty full so you need to be pretty fit to stand out, test your self on a 1.5mile run a pass is under 14mins you wanna aim for under 10:30.
The army encourages sport alot
As for your back\chest question your be lucky to find anyone willing to answer a medical question other then a army doctor.

Yes Chest and back ACNE could be a big factor for the Army to defer you until it clears.

Re acne: If it's bad you could be deferred. You'll be doing a lot of phys, carrying weights you never dreamt you could carry, marching over every hill on the horizon, getting thoroughly sweaty and grotty..... Your kit will rub at the best of times and if you have bad acne you could end up with very painful sores which may get infected and need medical intervention.

Wait for it to clear up....

Just as well they didn't have this rule in play when I joined up in '77! I had a face that looked like I'd dropped off to sleep and headbutted a pizza..... :roll:

AND we had 'Shirts Hairy' to wear...... (I break out in a sweat at the thought of those horse-hair shirts....)
