so, im in the process of joining the infantry and im well aware that alot of regiments are overmanned. My first choice is PWRR and i already know that they are full up

so my question is, after passing ADSC, will they ignore my first choice and give me my second or third because the first is full up? as i really do want to go to PWRR. The rifles is my second choice btw, but i believe they are overmanned aswell?

any help appreciated.

likelihood is mate, they will just stick you in the queue of people waiting to join that particular regiment.

they will never "ignore" your first choice, if it is truly overmanned they will undoubtedly discuss your other choices with you and go from there.

best of luck

I think regardless of what people say, every infantry regiment is overmanned some obviously more so than others. Just to give you a rough idea, I'm going grenadier guards and last time I spoke to my acio there was about 54 people who'd passed adsc and were awaiting a start date. Have you passed adsc yet?

bear this in mind pal, if you nail your ADSC and get an A (which, believe me - if you put in the preperation, isn't hard) you will be bumped somewhere at the front of the queue, ahead of all the B's, C's and so on.

as you hopefully know, everything contriubtes to it; interview, barb best, ADSC

the key things to focus on are;

your 1.5 mile run, ideally you want this below 10 minutes to impress
icebreaker - it's not a movie script, don't reel it off. you read off their questions on the board anyway. but be confident. don't freeze. talk about your interests and hobbies, revise your chosen regiment and why you want to join them. if you have any family history in forces, talk about that. and make sure it is clear in your head why you want to join the army as a whole and what you can offer them. literally, just say what they are looking for - motivation, determination, team player, dedicated, want to progress and learn etc.
pull ups - aren't that important, guys on ours at glencourse were doing 2 / 3 and got A's.
team tasks - it is a must that you get stuck in, contribute excessively and really go for it. motivate your team. don't sit on the side. VERY IMPORTANT

exceed in these things mate and you will get an A, that I can guarantee you :)
