Royal Engineers - What's recruitment like at the moment?

Hi, could someone please tell me what the current situation with recruitment is into the RE. I heard a few months back that it was slow with long waiting lists and not many trade options were open.
The trades I would be interested in are Carpenter or Electrician. If someone could let me know the what the deal is with this, I would be very grateful.
Thanks, Glenn.

You have heard right.
Recruiting for the RE and especially Carpenters/electricians/plumbers is pretty much full up.
Be prepared to wait six months or maybe more, and thats after you pass ADSC.

Yeah they are pretty full!
Im trying to join as a carpenter, i've been told by my warrant officer, they are recruiting some more in April. But you do need to pass selection with a decent score otherwise you can enjoy a lengthy wait.
