ARMY AIR CORPS

hey, im still not decided on which path to take- i spoke to a Warrant officer today, who was the CLO for my area; and he mentioned army air corps, which took my interest.
can anyone tell me some details about it?
requirements[not just grades] what to expect, chances of acceptance and whatnot; becoming a Pilot sounds great, but im pretty sure everyone else thinks so too, so competition for places would be high.
he also said you could get helicopter training even if your not in the AAC, is that something i could achieve for the Hcav?

Army air corps is very popular a good mate of mine is in phase 2 training now for aac and hes loving it, Hes going for groundcrew i.e re-arming and re-feuling the apache and lynx hellicopters. future prospects are good if you show enough savy you could go as far as apache pilot, I was going for the aac but am now going for the royal logistic corps.

I stalled on my application and messed it up for myself meaning i couldnt get in for this year as the next intake for aac is march next year and im 29 this year, I really wanted to get in phase 1 this side of christmas so i looked at my other job choices as you normally pick 3 and rlc driver was one of them, I love driving and my intake is in november so i thought do that instead.

Cheers, Yeah as i said the aac is a very popular choice alot of people want to work with the apache as its an amazing piece of kit the whole application to join the army takes time,I dont know how far you are through yours if you have not done selection yet then i would deffinetly go for aac.

to join AAC you have to have PERFECT eye sight, it was my 2nd job choise and i passed adsc yesterday (got my first job choise) but got told i cant do AAC because my eye sight was not perfect.

The AAC is a good choice, however everyone that joins the Corps is told they will be a Pilot, this could happen. However first off you will spend a lot of time on trade training. The branches will be Sigs, MT and Ground-handling which will include re-fuelling and re-arming also a lot of pushing and pulling Aircraft around.
You will be in amongst a very competitive bunch of people all wanting the same thing, a lot leave after a few years as the number of Pilots required is not high and a lot of places are directed towards the AAC Officers.
People from other Arms do get on the course but again places are at a premium.
