I'm really thinking of joining as an officer.

Hey,
I am a 16 year old student living in Worcestershire. I began reading a watching books and films about 20/21st century when I was around 12. I have an extreme interest and my main goal in life is to join the Royal Marines as an officer. However, I am also quite smart, I'm hoping for mainly A's in my GCSE's which I only have a few left to take. I'm also going to go to sixth-form, taking history and another subject I'm still deciding on. My parents want me to go to uni, however we both know it will be a massive struggle because we won't be able to afford it without a loan and I'm sure they will support me. However, as there is almost two years to go I think it's a perfect time to start thinking about how to plan out.
I'm wondering about a few things, how the applying procedure all the way to training works and interviews and stuff. I can do with links if you can't be bothered to write it out. Also as I'm planning to join after sixth form, this means I get a long summer, would it be good if I did some physical training all through that summer then applied at the end or should I apply straight away? Finally, I'm also a little confused at what it takes to become an officer and how training differs. Is it the same physically with a lot more time taken on mental and tactical situation or what?
Thanks for any advice.
