how many lenghts should i be able to swim before i join the royal marines?
what stroke should i do?

Also DO NOT use your arms, keep them at your sides at all times moving using a 'wriggling' motion like a worm. This is difficult at first but is efficient and prevents detection by the enemy as the water movement is less violent.

LOL...
A couple of lengths' breast stroke is enough to pass PRMC but as with everything, really don't go with the minimum to pass.
If swimming is a weakness get some practice or even lessons in, it's another avenue of fitness after all that will help you.
