Motivation

Anyone been struggling with it lately? i have my PGAC on 1st june and i just cant seem to get out and train!

i lost all motivation when it took 4weeks to get a medical result, and i thought getting my PGAC date would make me step my game up! but obviously not :(

what do you guys do/use for motivation?

I did find it hard to stay motivated during the long gaps between stages, no doubt as your PGAC gets closer you'll suddenly find you have a lot more motivation to train! I have a chart on the wall with the dates I know I'll be running, and a target time next to each date, then I fill in the actual time and highlight it green if I was on target or orange if i was off. So I can see my performance easily on the chart and if I've been missing targets I know i have to improve, or if I've been beating them then I'll feel good before my next session. Sounds odd but it works for me..

Do you train with music (MP3 or something?). If you don't I would start as it helps keep you motivated when training - and make sure there are some upbeat tracks on you MP3.

I go running in the morning and I often have to force myself up even when I REALLY don't want to run. Because I know that by the time I get to my park I will be wide awake and motivated enough to run.

Try watching a film or book or a TV Programme before going to bed every now and then, the book or film should be a film that encoarages you, try military-themed films.

The above seem to work for me so I'm just passing on what works for me.
Oh . . . and remember, eyes on the prize 8)

My mate's a bodybuilder and he's told me a few things about motivation. He has a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger up on the wall of his home gym. He says that gives him the motivation to work harder and as something to aspire to.

That same idea could work with you. For example say you want to join the Parachute Regiment, then you could have a picture of the maroon beret as the background picture on your phone or something. As just_me said eyes on the prize.

Just an idea mate.

i've tried runnin with music, but my earphones fall out! w@#k..lol

i think its time i just forced myself up to get up, and train!

I feel your pain mate. I've started wearing a tight beanie hat and it kind of lodges them in place but still find myself running along with my hands in my ears adjusting them. Worth it though cause Aerosmith sound so much better than the sound of me dying.

Like Junkbox said, get yourself a pair of sports headphones - there the ones with the hooks. Look around, I got myself a pair for about a tenner and I've been using them regulary for a couple months now with no problem.

your like me mate. its like looking in a mirror. haha.
i find movies perfect. becuase i just sit there and think what if!! but tends to be at the bad times. but none the less it still works.

Same. It works, a pity there aren't enough films in the world, I need a few new ones!

get yourself the rocky soundtrack - works wonders for me when im doing hill work! either that or get some ac/dc - thunderstruck blasting out

Never Back Down is a great modern film for motervation - and the girl in it is soo f@#k hot!!
