hey everyone,
i have succesfully passed selection this weekend passing all my tests and have just got off the phone to my careers office in the hope of being put on the next available intake; however, they are now telling me i have to go through ANOTHER frickin selection with the paras called 'pre para' i was told before im allowed into training! he told me it was show recruits what to expect in the first two weeks of training. iv been in the selection process for almost a year now devoted to the paras and now iv finally passed my second selection this is the last thing i was expecting to happen. has anyone else got this selection to go? or is my recruiting office just pissing me about as usual? any info would be appreciated as i know nothing about what this selection entails.

Never heard of that mate. Are they not on about the Parachute Regiment Insight Course:
http://www.army.mod.uk/infantry/regiments/4634.aspx
But this is not really a 'selection', more a of a look at what they do.

im 19; i did my selection on an insight course: run was 9.13, passed all upper body excersies, won the assault course race, got 11.8 on the bleep test, plus i stayed on the log; the para interviewing me said i did really well in everything including the command tasks.
i recon this must be some mistake by the recruiting office because iv never heard of this second part selection, and noone on here has said theyve heard of it either

What do you mean when you say you did selection on an insight course? Have you not been on an ADSC?
Sorry in advance if I have misunderstood your post.

thats ok mate, i went to ADSC in january but failed the run, so my interviewer said i could either have another crack at pirbright or on the insight course, the only difference being the location and the staff, so i went for the insight course which was way more enjoyable than pirbright.

There was a fellow member on here who like your self failed his run time at ADSC and they still allowed him in only, they sent him two weeks ahead of the rest to beast him fitness wise, to get his fitness up ...
Maybe this is something similar ?

right; iv just got off the phone to my office and they say its a brand new selection for para recruits before their intake which everyone now has to go through apparentley. he said you do the usual pft tests, some trainasium tests (test of bottle i guess), a 5 mile run, and three laps round an assault course; it lasts 5 days i was told, i havnt yet got a date for it. my recruiter said they brought it in because the paras were getting alot of wasters who immedietly drop out, i guess this NEW selection is to weed out the men from the boys

Alright mate. I've never heard of this. I passed selection last wednesday and they said to me that i just needed to wait for a date. Have you got your certificate saying you passed selection and the booklet on Depot Para?
I think your recruiter is having you on. If it is true, where is this 5 day thing done? Colly?

no problem lads, iv had another call from the recruiters, im going on 14th april, it is held at catterick by the paras themselves, this is a brand new thing so i doubt many lads know about this yet so if i survive this course i will post a detailed 'insight' just_me. the recruitment office said i did well on selection so it cant just be for no hopers... iv got the certificate and the booklet yes j.fazza.
ill do my best to keep updating everyone on this as no doubt it will become an important compulcary thing for all para hopefuls!
