After training, i am interested in whether you can train to become for instance a qualified electrician or plumber or bricklayer. Like in the royal engineers after 14weeks training you then go on to train as one of those or other options. Can anyone give me information on this please.

Many thanks

Without wanting to offend...

Go join the Royal Engineers then

The Corps is an infantry formation first and foremost, whilst many specialisations do carry civvy quals, very few of them are of any kind of decent level unless you join one of the mega technical trades - sparky and bricky are not among the trades we need.

Be a sandaky stacky, stack sandbags, I couldn't say for sure but it's not often our boys need a concrete pillbox built.

But like the above post said, join a high technical trade, the only down side is that if you have a trade like that you might not see as much action as a front line soldier if that's what you're joining for.

Assault Engineers build bridges and stuff. Plumbers and suchlike however are not required by the Corps, they just call in Perce as in the RE's, 59Cdo in fact.

Hate to burst your bubble mate, but 59 are no more...now we have xx Commando REGIMENT Royal Engineers...can't remember numbers, but hey-ho, it's only Perce

Apparently they've more or less taken over Chivenor now, you'll have to ask Davo about it when he's back there...
