hey everyone

Im off to selection at lichfield 6ht and 7th November, my fitness is going good.

1.5 mile time is sorted
Jerry can lift sorted

But i can't seem to manage more than 1 heave some day's not even that.
After recently going to the gym like a mad man my sit ups are much better, so are my press ups, ive nearly doubled the amount of weight i can chest press etc, but just can't manage my heaves.

Getting quite nervous about selection arrrggghhh.

:-?

Ok a tip for you all, fiew buddies from 2 troop para and 45 comandos taught me..

Exercise is a essential to performing well in anything physical, but constant exercise is a no no.

Think of it like taking you're brand new ferrari down a road at the red line for ages and giving it an oil change after n hour at red line.. your engine will fail...

do half it can recouver and any long term damadge or no long term gain is noticable.

not doing any running until wednesday just to keep it safe and make sure im not hurting it anymore and well and truly healed, doing lots of cycling and swimming to keep ma heart pumping lol, and upper body weights, will start running on the thursday and concentrate on ma 1.5 and do some unmeasured runs for stamina.

TBH it sems to be mind over matter, i did the run once and it took like 09.50 did it 3 days later and it was 12.32 my average is 10 something :D.

dont want to over work it and go to selection with muscle pains etc

Yeah im like that if i time myself and i know im being timed i underperform but if not im ok, i just think its physcological and it will go once we get started. My average is 10 something aswell. I get my tickets on thursday so i will be able to let you know what time im going through birmingham. When you train upper body do you do like circuits and what kind of stuff you do? and do you use heavier weights with less reps or lighter weights with more reps. Iv'e only got small but toned arms so i keep it small like 5-6kg dumbells but about 3 x 25 on each arm. Besides that i only do pushups, bicep dips, pullups & situps.

Hey lads, I do weight training i mix it up. wensday is LIGHT + MORE, thursday is, HEAVY + LESS.

As for runing i absolutly caind it and got 7:35!!! hot.

Another tip for you fellas, when it comes to the run, don't be a fool and sprint off the line, you'll loose so much stamina and energy doing that by thinking its a race, its not a race its a test so dont sprint off.. Start slow and increase the pace evry 40 + Steps.

Good thing is to count steps too to take the thought from beaing unable to breath (if you feal that when you run).

All in the mind.

You must be at the entrance to Lichfield trent valley station between the times of 10:30 - 11:15, Please arrive at the designated station (lichfiled) (cars, planes, taxi's aren't allowed.) you will be picked up by a member of staff at the station and travell to the base in a mini' buss.

LATE ARIVALS WILL PREJUDICE YOUR CHANGE OF SELECTION.
