SAS Commitment

Anybody here know about the sort of commitment level a potential SAS soldier needs to go through for his life? Say I was in the army for 9 years and applied would that give me another 13 in the SAS to culminate to my 22 year service package, or does it get extended, also someone told me you HAVE to live with the regiment 24/7 almost until your 40 years old and leaving the military...
