The world record for the 5k (about 3.1 miles) is 12:37.35.

All you lads with sub-17 minute three milers have got nothing on this guy

. Just goes to show the human body can achieve anything if its owner puts his mind to it.

That is awesome, but I wonder how his upper body strength is?

Shouldn't think he's up to much upper body wise. But still that time is amazing.
(The guy's name is Kenenisa Bekele.)
It's all about achieving a balance. There's no point being 6'1" and weighing in at 200lbs of solid muscle if you can't run. On the same note, there's little point to getting a 12 minute 3 miler if you can't do a pull up.

That's impressive, but I bet I could carry an 80 lb bergen further across Dartmoor than he could
